“I am not finished yet Ms. Sara.”

Sara stayed silent and allowed Blake to continue.

“So as I was saying, you are a gorgeous lady and I have met many women in my life but none were as appealing as you are.”

“Are you now done Mr. Blake? Sorry but I need to go back inside to your father.” Sara spoke rudely and headed back towards the room without giving an ear to what Blake wanted to say or without further giving him the chance to speak.

“This act of yours just made you must more desirable Sara. I love to accomplish things that are difficult to attain. And I will achieve you one day for sure.” Blake thought as he looked at Sara walking away from him.

The next morning Sara was in church with her mother and after the ceremony ended, they made their way out of the church. Sara’s mother was a very social lady, which is why as she came out, an old lady stopped to talk to her. Sara soon became bored with the conversation and excused them by saying, “You guys can continue your chatter and I will be waiting for you at the church’s gate, all right?”

Sara’s mother nodded and she made her way towards the gate. As she walked, she saw a Ferrari standing by and she wondered if anyone in their church group was rich enough to afford such an expensive car. But as she walked closer, she saw Blake and George standing by the car and she realized whom the car really belonged to. Blake saw Sara and walked towards her with a bouquet of flowers in his hand. The bouquet that Blake carried looked beautiful, as it was a combination of Sara’s favorite flowers; white lilies and red roses.

“Hello gorgeous.” Blake greeted as he approached Sara who was beautifully dressed in a white dress with her hair tied in a bun. “These are for you” Blake handed in the flower bouquet to Sara.

“Umm thank you. They are beautiful.” Sara spoke politely as she looked at the flowers.

“Not more than you of course.”

“What are you doing here?” Sara questioned and did not respond to Blake’s flirting.

“Well, I came here to meet you.”

  “Why?”

“What do you mean by why? Am I not allowed to come and meet you?”

“No. I mean why are you doing all this Mr. Blake. Maybe I was not clear enough yesterday but I am not interested in you in any manner, so please you have to stop doing all this.”

“Doing what Sara? I just came here to meet you and give you these beautiful flowers. Is that something offensive to you?”

“Yes it is! And how did you know I was here at the church anyway?”

“I have my ways and sources for that. Besides, I told you, I find you gorgeous.”

  “Oh please, will you stop.”

“Now what? Is complimenting a beautiful woman like you, a crime too in your world?”

“You know nothing about my world Mr. Blake, so please stop pretending like you do”

“I may not be familiar as to how your world is, but I am well familiar with it, I know everything about you.”

“So you already ran a background check on me right? I don’t even understand why you are doing all this. What possible benefit will you achieve by following me around like this?”

“Ok, let’s make it simple for you. I want you Sara Cameron. In clearer terms, I want you to me mine.”

“That’s ridiculous. Look, while you are in this town, go find something useful to do with your precious time instead of wasting your time on me because I am not interested in being a billionaire’s arm candy.”

“What? I didn’t say anything about you being my arm candy. Now look who is being ridiculous herself.”

  “Mr. Blake…”

“Hello?” Sara’s mother approached the couple from behind, “what’s going on here. Who is this fine gentleman Sara?” her mother asked as she looked at Blake.

“Hello ma’am, I am Blake Nathaniel. I am Sara’s friend. I am sure you must be Sara’s sister right?”

“Oh heavens, no. I am Sara’s mother. My name is Sofia Cameron.” She blushed while answering.

“Mother? Really? Well now I know where Sara gets her good looks from.”

“Well, it’s certainly not from her father’s side.” Sofia giggled.

“Mom, I think we are getting late. We should be heading home now.” Sara interrupted them because she couldn’t bear any more conversations with Blake.

“Well, all right. It was nice meeting you Blake.” Sofia smiled.

“Trust me, the pleasure was all mine. Besides, I love meeting such stunning women like yourself.”

Sara’s mother blushed again and spoke as she giggled. “Oh you are such a pleaser, Blake. Sara, why don’t you invite your friend over to our place sometime?”

“Yea Sara why don’t you?” Blake smiled and teased Sara.

“Mom, please let’s just go home. I am getting late.” Sara spoke in frustration.

“Ok, ok. Well, we will meet later Blake.”

  “Sure Sofia.”

  CHAPTER 6

“So what’s up with that man, Sara? He sure was handsome.” Sofia questioned as they entered Sara’s house.

“Mom please stop all right? Please just ignore him like I do.”

“I cannot just ignore him Sara. At least, tell me about him.” Sara’s mother insisted.

“As he told you his name is Blake. He is the son of the man that I am privately nursing nowadays.”

“You mean he is the son of Mathew and Jane?”

“Yes mom. He is their billionaire son and he came to town few days back. He has been flirting with me ever since he got here. In the beginning I ignored him and thought maybe he was just playing around but today he just crossed his limits by following me all the way to the church.” Sara spoke angrily.

“Well, he was certainly very charming.”

  “Mom!” Sara exclaimed in irritation.

“Ok, ok. If you have such a problem with that guy, why don’t you just complain to Jane about her son’s acts?”

“His parents are a bunch of sweet people. They have treated me like a part of their family and I don’t want to upset them by complaining. And Blake is a grown man anyway, I am sure he is not a child about whom I can complain to his parents in order to set him straight.”

“Oh that’s right. So then, what are you going to do then?”

“I am going to ignore him.”

  “Ignore him?”

“Yes mom. That is my plan. What else can I do?”

“Are you sure ignoring will work? I mean that man looked pretty determined to get you Sara. I think he is highly interested in you.”

“But I am not mom. I don’t know what to do about this now.”

“Well, why don’t you just quit working for his family?” Sofia suggested.

“You are seriously telling me that? Mom, you know I can’t leave my job, especially because of a stubborn billionaire. Besides we need the money.”

“You are a good nurse Sara. You can find some other job.”

“Mom, I cannot just leave Mr. Mathew like that. He needs medical attention and I am his nurse. You know how honest I am with my work and I have a liability to look after that poor ill man”

“Well, ok. Don’t worry as far as Blake is considered, I know you are mature enough to handle a stubborn man like you preciously have.” Sara’s mother giggled and pointed out the fact that Sara had previously also denied many men who came begging for her attention. The discussion came to an end and Sara smiled too by thinking, “I don’t need to worry about him. I will handle him. That spoiled cowboy billionaire will never win me.”

  CHAPTER 7

The next day, Sara was reading a medical journal when there was a knock on her door.

As she opened the door, she was surprised to find Blake standing in front of her. “What are you doing here?”

“I came here to give you something.” Blake spoke with a wide grin on his face.

  “What?” Sara felt confused.

Blake held a box in his hand, which he handed over to Sara. “W
ell go on, open it” he instructed Sara politely.

“It’s a necklace” Sara spoke in a low voice as she glared at the beautiful necklace that was sparkling in its black velvet box.

“It’s a diamond necklace, I ordered it for you all the way from New York. I thought it would look amazing on your long neck, but I guess I was wrong because looking at the diamond and you together, I realize that its you actually who is making the diamond look prettier, not the other way around.”

Sara silently stared at the necklace and after a brief moment of silence; Blake asked in a hopeful tone, “Well, do you like it?”

“Blake I need you to leave right now.”

“What happened? Did you not like it?”

“Just leave and take your gift with you.” Sara spoke angrily.

“Wait, I don’t understand what your problem is? Is it that I am a billionaire?” Blake spoke angrily too, now.

  “No.”

“Then why do you keep turning me down? I can help you with your life as well. Heck, you can be a doctor if you want! Just give me a chance.”

  “Exactly I don’t want anyone’s charity.”

“It’s not charity if you help the one you like. But fine, if you don’t want me to help you in any way, that’s perfectly fine, I won’t help you but at least give me a chance. Be mine.”

  “No, just leave.”

Sara felt angry and slammed the door shut without further listening to anything.

After a few hours, the doorbell rang again and this time it was George who stood in front of Sara’s door.

  “Hello ma’am, how are you?”

“What is it now? Why don’t you guys just leave me alone!” Sara spoke furiously.

“Mr. Blake saw you and your mother walking home from the church yesterday and so he wanted to gift you a brand new car.” George pointed towards the maroon colored Benz Mercedes that stood in front of Sara’s small house.

Without giving any further reaction, Sara left her house while George stood there on her porch calling her name. Sara took the bus and went over to Blake’s house to have a final word with him. As she reached the house, she felt furious and stormed directly to Blake’s room without greeting anyone.

“What is all this?” Sara barged in his room and saw Blake standing by the window.

“What is what?” Blake asked as he turned and looked at Sara with a confused look on his face.

“I mean what is up with all the gifts?”

“Well it’s my way of saying: be mine, simple.”

“So you are trying to buy me over by showering me with your expensive gifts?”

“It’s not called buying. I am just looking out for you and giving you all the pretty things that an exquisite woman like you really deserves.”

“No. What I deserve is respect! And I find this very offensive that you consider me the sort of a woman who is materialistic enough to be bought by your gifts. Let me tell you, these gifts of yours mean nothing to me, Blake Nathaniel!”

“Sara, I assure you, I didn’t mean to offend you in any way.”

“Well you did. What you are doing makes me feel cheap and makes me realize that you think I am inferior to you. I need gifts and expensive items in order to reach your living standard, is that it?”

“That’s ridiculous, if you were so inferior, why would I come after you again and again. You, yourself are a gem baby doll. Anyway, if I have offended you so badly, tell me how can I make it up to you?”

“You really want to make it up to me?

“Yes of course. Anything to gain your forgiveness.”

  “Well then, leave me alone.”

  “What?”

  “Yes. You heard me correctly”

“Sara, all this time I tried to win you but if you really want me to simply leave you alone then I will do that too but I request you to at least think about giving me a chance.”

“No. If you want to make it up to me, you need to stop all this and leave me alone.”

“Are you sure about that? Until now, I chased you because I like the thrill of the chase itself but I am a very egoistic man, Ms. Sara. If I leave, I will not come back until you loose and decide to come over to me yourself.”

  “That will never happen!”

“Well then alright, I will stay away and don’t worry, I am a man of my word, I will not disturb you again.”

  “All right great!”

“Well then, now if that’s sorted, you may leave my room right away.” Blake spoke in a grim voice and Sara stormed out of his room.

  CHAPTER 8

The next day, Sara visited her best friend Mariah and told her everything about Blake.

“So you just stormed in there like that and made him promise you that he is going to stay away?” Mariah spoke in an offended manner.

“Yes. What else was I supposed to do. He was getting on my nerves.” Sara spoke as she drank her tea.

  “Woman, are you insane!”

  “Calm down Mariah.”

“I cannot calm down because my best friend is dumb enough to dump a billionaire who was head over heels for her.”

“Wait, isn’t that expression used just for ladies? I mean about the head over heels thing?”

“It works for both the genders. Now please, will you concentrate on what I am trying to say!”

  “What, Mariah?”

“Billionaires don’t just come again and again in someone’s life you know. You should have availed this chance. I know I would have even though I am a married woman!”

“Yes. They don’t come again and again but one more important fact about billionaires is that they don’t stay hooked to one girl for too long and I am not the sort of a lady who would want to be a temporary fun house for a billionaire, Mariah.”

“Who said it’s bound to be temporary? Common, does he really like you?”

“No he does not. He is just trying to win me because I rejected him. I am like a price for him that needs to be won or a business deal that he needs to get done with.”

“Sara you always assume too much. At least give the poor man a chance.”

“Poor is the last word that you can call him.”

“Sara why aren’t you looking at what I am?”

“Yea. You are looking at his bank balance and net worth right?”

“No, I am looking at the fact that he tried to make an honest effort. I mean he could have backed away first when he realized that you didn’t want to be with him but despite your rejection, he tried to win your heart.”

  “Yea, with expensive gifts.”

“So what? Maybe that was his way of expressing his love for you. Let me tell you his way of expressing love is much better than my husband’s who brings a $2 rose for me when he wants to get lucky with me in bed. In short, man express love according to their budget and well, Blake’s budget is boundless.”

“Ok, fine. Forget the gifts but what about my job? I need to be professional about this! I really need this job and cannot risk it for the sake of a flare”

“I don’t understand why you worry so much Sara. Mr. Mathew is satisfied with your medical expertise. Why would you lose your job if you dated Blake? And besides dating Blake would not be unprofessional because technically he is not your boss, his father is. Think about all the fun you two can have while you are in his house all the time.” Mariah smiled and winked at Sara.

“I don’t know Mariah, I don’t think I am ready for all this.”

“Ready? Oh God, do you know how long it has been since you dated?”

“One year.” Sara admitted in embarrassment.

“Yes, one year! Girl you need to loosen yourself up. Common, get naughty and have some sex with that dare devil of a man.

“Mariah!” Sara exclaimed and they both giggled.

“Hey I am serious. You better hurry or you are going to regret it for sure.” Mariah concluded and the ladies continued to chatter about Mariah’s married life.

  CHAPTER 9

Few days passed and Blake did not bother Sara anymore. He did not follow her, call her or send over any gifts. In fact, whenever she went over to work at his house to look after his dad, Blake was locked up in his room for most of the day and even when they saw each other in the house, Blake did not talk to her.

“Is he really hurt that I did not give him a chance?” Sara thought whenever she looked at Blake who always ignored her.

One day, Sara sat in a chair besides Mathew’s bed when Blake entered. Sara felt nervous as she looked at Blake but he continued to ignore her.

“Dad? Are you all right?” Blake spoke worriedly.

  “I am fine Blake.”

“Oh, I got worried. I just went to ride some horses at the ranch when George informed me that you wanted to see me. I got worried about your health so I came here as quickly as possible.”

“Don’t worry Blake and yes, I sent George over to call you but it was about nothing serious. I just wanted to talk to you.”

  “About what?”

“I think I should wait outside for this.” Sara spoke to Mathew and stood up to leave.

“No. That’s all right Sara. You may stay here.” Mathew spoke politely and Sara settled back in her chair.

“So Blake, I wanted to talk to you about your stay here.”

  “What about it?”

“I think you should head back to your city life now. I mean how long will you waste your time here for me. Besides, I am all well now. ”

“Wait, where is all this coming from dad? I never complained about being here. In fact you know I love spending time in this town and around you and mom.”

“I know all that, but it has been weeks since you are here and I am worried about your business back in New York. Don’t you need to handle that?”

“Dad, I am not a small businessman whose business would make losses if I am not around. Your son is a freaking billionaire, you know. I can stay wherever I want for as long as I want.”

“But George said you have been cancelling all your meetings since you got here.”
